  2. Equator • Circles the Earth like a belt. The Equator is at 0 degrees latitude. Halfway between the North Pole and the South Pole.

  5. Latitude • lines of latitude circle the Earth parallel to the Equator.

  6. Longitude • lines of longitude circle the Earth from Pole to Pole.

  7. Absolute Location • pinpoint the precise spot where one line of latitude crosses one line of longitude.

  9. Great Circle • an imaginary line that follows the curve of the Earth

  10. GPS • stands for Global Positioning System. Places based on coordinates broadcast by satellites.

  11. Projection • ways of showing the Earth on a flat piece of paper.
