  2. What is DRS? Promoting diversity in the workplace, the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) provides quality programs and services that maximize the employment and independence of persons with disabilities.

  3. Who benefits from DRS? • People with disabilities who are actively seeking employment, or wish to return to work • Employers seeking skilled and qualified job candidates, or need help in addressing disability-related issues in the workplace • Communities who recognize the wealth of talents from individuals with disabilities

  4. Participant Services DRS provides comprehensive programs and services that prepare individuals with disabilities to enter the job market with job-ready skills and training.

  5. Transition Services Assist students in the movement from school to the world of work and adult life. The Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) works together with students, families, schools and community agencies to provide services to support a successful transition from school to work.

  6. General Transition services include, but are not limited to: • Career Exploration/Vocational Counseling • Job Training/Job Placement • Assistive Technology • Employment Resource Centers • Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center

  7. No Cost Transition Services • Diagnostics, Evaluation, Assessment • Disability Awareness, Counseling • Vocational and Career Path Counseling • Job Seeking and Job Retention Counseling • Access to Employment Resource Center • Job Placement • Driver Evaluation • Follow-along services after the placement.

  8. Specialized Services • Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services • Brain Injury Services • Substance Abuse Services • School-to-Work Services • Long-Term Mental Illness Services
