  2. Rationale For Wearing A Tie • The tie is part of the school uniform. • An ACSian who is neat and proper in his appearance shows respect to the School. • Only P5 and P6 pupils wear the school tie so that they can be good role models for their younger “brothers” in the school. • School tie is worn on Fridays for chapel or other formal events such as Founder’s Day or Honour’s Day

  3. When To Wear The Tie? • Prefects: Wear daily and during recess duties. • Only remove the tie in the classroom before going for recess. • Keep tie in locker or school bags.

  4. How To Tie? Method : Four-in-hand Knot

  5. Step 1 Start with the wide end ("W") of your necktie on the right, extending about 30cm below the narrow end ("N") on the left. Step 2 Cross the wide end over the narrow end.

  6. Step 3 Turn the wide end back underneath the narrow end. Step 4 Continue by bringing the wide end back over in front of the narrow end again.

  7. Step 5 Then, pull the wide end up and through the loop around your neck. Step 6 Hold the front of the knot loosely with your index finger and bring the wide end down through the front loop.

  8. Step 7 At last, remove your finger and tighten the knot carefully to the collar by holding the narrow end and sliding the knot up.

  11. Checking The Neatness Of Your Tie • Look in the mirror as you adjust your tie. • Adjust the ends of the tie. Ensure that the wide end of the tie is longer than the narrow end. • Ensure that the length of your tie is just above the centre of the button on your shorts.

  12. Checking The Neatness Of Your Tie • The knot should be centered directly in the middle of your collar. • Pull down the collar of your shirt.

  13. Handling of the School Tie • The school tie is part of the school uniform. Mishandling the school tie is not showing respect to the School. • The school tie should only be worn around the collar and not be used for other purposes.

  14. Consequences Of Not Wearing Tie When Required • Wear the tie on Monday for a full day. • If you forget to wear on Monday, then you will have to wear it for the next 2 days. • All buttons on your shirt are to be buttoned-up if you do not bring your tie.
