  2. 7th Grade Sample Schedule Hilliard City Schools 2014-2015 Middle School Scheduling Period 1 Language Arts 7 • Key Points: • Start and dismissal time : 7:30-2:10 • School will open at 7:20 • Each academic period will be 49 minutes in length. • 7 periods in a day. • Students will have 4 core content periods, Public Speaking and Presenting, Health and Physical Education as well as 2 elective periods . • The middle school schedule creates more opportunities for targeted intervention, targeted enrichment, and expanded course offerings allowing us to meet the 21st century needs and interests of today’s students.   3. 7th Grade Sample Schedule Hilliard City Schools 2014-2015 Middle School Scheduling Period 1 Language Arts 7 • Key Points: • Students will automatically be placed into all Core courses. • (Math, LA, Science and SS) • All 7th grade students will also automatically be placed into a required semester of Public Speaking & Presenting and a required semester of Health/PE. • All students will choose their elective courses on line through Home Access. Period 2 Math 7 Period 3 Science 7 Period 4 Social Studies 7 Period 5 Public Speaking & Presenting / Physical Education/Health Period 6 Design & Robotics / 2D Art Period 7 Cadet Band

  4. Core CoursesStudents will be automatically placed in one class from each of the following core courses.. Hilliard City Schools 2014-2015 Middle School Scheduling Language Arts LEAP 7 (2 Periods)^ Language Arts 7 Humanities Language Arts 7* Advanced Language Arts 7 Science Science 7 Advanced Science 7 (only for students who qualify for Algebra 1 also) Mathematics Math 7 Pre-Algebra Algebra 1* Social Studies Social Studies 7 Humanities Social Studies 7* Advanced Social Studies 7 o– denotes a course in which high school credit can be earned ^ – students are assigned to this course based on academic need * - these courses will be offered at the ILC, enrollment is limited

Hilliard City Schools 2014-2015 Middle School Scheduling Scheduling – Elective Courses • Students are required to schedule two periods of electives to complete their registration. • Students can select two year-long elective courses, four semester elective courses, or a combination of the two.

Hilliard City Schools 2013-2014 Middle School Scheduling • Intervention • A number of intervention opportunities will be available for students based on OAA data, SRI and SMI data, and/or teacher recommendation. • Please note, these intervention courses are not requested by students/parents, rather, they are scheduled for students based on the academic criteria listed above. Students may be placed in/removed from the Extensions courses throughout the year based on their current academic progress. Students requiring additional intervention may be pulled from one of their elective periods twice a week.

  9. Earning High School CreditStudents can earn high school credit for the following courses taken in middle school. Humanities Language Arts 7 & Humanities Social Studies 7* Double block, year long course, held at the Innovative Learning Center* Students will be transported to the ILC and their home school via bus* Enrollment is limited and distributed evenly across the district* A lottery system will be implemented if demand exceeds capacity* Amazing stories of early World History, while still being challenged with grade level reading and writing.
