Basic Academic Vocabulary • Character Point of View: the perspective of the narrator’s voice • Direct Characterization: The author tells readers about characters by making direct statements about their personality. • Indirect Characterization: The author shows what a character is like through his/her speech, thoughts, effect on others, actions and looks. • Character Development: the change in characterization of a dynamic character, who changes over the course of a narrative.
