  2. Basic • “Walk” while “Sleeping” • Carries out activities such as dressing, eating, or talking without any consciousness. • Very dangerous; • person has no consciousness • person may come across dangerous objects without realizing

  3. Basic (cont’d) • Walker’s eyes are usually half open • Young Children more often than grown adults

  4. When? And Why? • Usually occurs during deep sleep (III and IV) • Genetic inheritance • Drugs, stress, fever, sleep deprivation • Long length and depth of deep sleep may cause sleep walking (reason why children tend to sleep walk more often)

  5. Should We Wake Them Up? • Yes • NOT TRUE • If you wake up a sleepwalker, it causes them brain damage/shock/heart attack • TRUE • You should wake a sleepwalker so that they don’t do anything dangerous

  6. Treatment • Meditation • Remove stimulation before sleep • Clear room of obstacles (in case of sleep walk) • Lock doors/windows

  7. Fun Facts • Extreme cases of sleep walking can result in an unconscious drive in your car. • There was a case of murder, where the victim was found not guilty because he seemed to have been sleep walking through his crime.
