Helping you to manage your hall • The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations has campaigned for many years for a better deal for the people who run village halls. • The KeyStone Awards are designed to make your life easier by providing information, support and encouragement to help you manage your community building more efficiently and effectively.

  4. What is it? • A quality award which will help you understand what you are doing and help you do it better • A guide to best practice • A comprehensive information resource • But it’s also a management tool that can be used to help you keep files, documents and information organised

  5. Who is it for? • Designed to help those running village halls and community buildings in rural Scotland • All halls can benefit even if it just to confirm that you are already doing everything right! • But equally relevant to those running an urban community building or scout hut.

  6. What are the benefits? • Designed specifically for village halls in Scotland • Provides comprehensive supporting resources • Encouragement and assistance of a mentor

  7. The KeyStone Awards will help you: • have confidence that you’re doing things right • organise your files, documents and information • understand where to go for help • promote and publicise your organisation and provide evidence of good practice • secure a long term future for your facility

  11. Level One: • Focuses on keeping legal and looking after volunteers, staff and users • Sets the minimum requirements for your organisation and will help you meet your legal obligations and organisational objectives

Mentoring and assessment • You’ll be helped throughout the process by a mentor from a local voluntary sector support organisation. • The mentoring and assessment process is flexible and can be adapted to suit the needs of your organisation • Assessment is ongoing and informal and usually carried out by your mentor
