  2. Communication Typesof Communication: •Verbal Communication • Written Communication • Nonverbal Communication •Visual Communication

  3. Verbal Communication • Verbal communication includes rate, volume, pitch as well as articulation and pronunciation. Verbal communication also includes sign language and written forms of communication.

  4. Non Verbal Communication • Non verbal communication includes those important but unspoken signals that individuals exhibit, specifically: carriage/posture, appearance, listening, eye contact, hand gestures and facial expressions.

  5. All forms of communication can be categorized as either verbal or nonverbal. In turn, both verbal and nonverbal communication can be subdivided into either vocal or nonvocal.

  6. Much of the communication that takes place between people is verbal; that is, it is based on language. Verbal communication of the vocal category includes spoken language.

  7. • Nonvocal verbal communication involves written communication as well as communication that is transmitted through sign language, finger spelling, Braille, or other similar alternatives to verbal language.

  8. Communication has been called the transfer of meaning from one mind to another.

  9. Definition: Communication is a sharing of meaning through the transmission of information through mutually understood signs.
