  2. Collecting a Sample I went to the Campus pier to collect my sample. Water Temperature: 12.5o C Date and Time: May 20, 2010 To collect my sample I took 5 one liter samples from along the pier and mixed the in a large clean container (checking not to get any small fish).   4. Explaining My Data • I conducted experiments based in dissolved O2 • Adequate dissolved oxygen is necessary for good water quality. Oxygen is a necessary element to all forms of life. Natural stream purification processes require adequate oxygen levels in order to provide for aerobic life forms. • Based on the data, the dissolved O2 levels suggests that the system is on the low end of healthy Source: http://www.state.ky.us/nrepc/water/wcpdo.htm

  6. My suggestions based on data • To improve/maintain I suggest that more be done to decrease the amount of fertilizers that get into the water. This can be accomplished be putting in better regulations the reduce the amount of fertilizer that can be applied.
