Residences Campus Life • 60 residence buildings with 4,200 rooms (single and family types)inside the campus. • Dormitories accommodate both international and Japanese students, of which 1,200 are international students. • Many apartments are also available off-campus. Costs • Registration and tuition fees: • University dormitory: 14,000-31,000 JPY. • Average living expenses including food, clothing and study materials: approximately 80,000 JPY per month.

  6. International-exchange Programs • Academic partnerships with 211 universities and institutions in 53 countries. • 1,944 international students from 102 countries. Scholarships • Japanese Government offers scholarships to overseas students who wish to study in Japan. Applications for the scholarships are made either through Japanese embassies overseas or through a university in Japan. • “Tsukuba Scholarship“ is our own financial support for excellent international students who enter Global 30 Programs at the undergraduate level. • Japanese Student Services Organizations (JASSO) and other private foundations are also available.

Admissions • Undergraduate Students (Japanese) • Graduate Students (Japanese) • Entrance examinations for these two are held in Japanese, therefore sufficient Japanese proficiency is required. • Non-degree Research Students (Japanese and English) • Selection is based on the submitted documents, and needs an agreement with the supervisor of University of Tsukuba in advance. • Credited Auditors (Japanese and English) • Residence status in Japan is required. • Exchange and Ex-Research Students (Japanese and English) • These are open to foreign students from educational institutions sharing Academic Exchanges Agreements with University of Tsukuba. • Global 30 Programs for Under/Graduate Students (English)
