Vocabulary • Igneous rocks are formed when melted rock (lava) cools and hardens. • Metamorphic rocks form deep inside the Earth when rocks are put under high temperature & pressure. • Sedimentary rocks form when wind or water break down other rocks or organic matter and then deposit the pieces on top of each other like layers.
