OGT Testing Tips. 1. Get a good night ’ s sleep 2. Eat breakfast! They will provide something light. 3. Read EVERYTHING! 4. Follow directions! 5. Give them what they ask for. 6. Write clearly! 7. Leave nothing blank- NOTHING. Test Day!. Go to the bathroom BEFORE you get to your room.

  1. OGT Testing Tips • 1. Get a good night’s sleep • 2. Eat breakfast! They will provide something light. • 3. Read EVERYTHING! • 4. Follow directions! • 5. Give them what they ask for. • 6. Write clearly! • 7. Leave nothing blank- NOTHING.

  2. Test Day! • Go to the bathroom BEFORE you get to your room. • Arrive a little early- no reason to be stressed on OGT day. • A small snack will be provided for you. • Leave cell phone, ipods, etc. OUT of the room.

  3. Reading: • Read the entire passage. *Use active reading!!! • Read each answer. • Refer back to the passage and look around the part they refer you to. • In short answer questions, make your you have covered everything you need to get full points. • Other ideas?

  4. Writing: • Answer essays first. • Be sure you are addressing the prompt- what are they asking you for? Should you be persuasive? Etc. • Check your spelling, punctuation, and grammar. • Other tips?

  5. After the test. . . • Review your work! • Check spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc. • Be sure each question is answered. • Remember: writing too much is better than not enough. • Quoting and not needing it is better than needing it and not having it.
