Curriculum Spelling • First 5 words on the list are Core Words • Words 6 – 25 are Harcourt Words • Pretest on Friday, Posttest on Thursday • Mini-lessons • If you spell less than 5 words incorrectly on your pretest you will add the Challenge Words to your list. If you spell less than 3 words on your pretest you will have Challenge and Bonus Words. • Be wise when writing for other people’s eyes! It counts as part of your grade.   7. Assignment Notebook Each day it will be your child’s responsibility to complete his/her assignment notebook (I will complete the chart in class and your child should copy from it.) If a subject area has a red star in the box this means there is a paper to be turned in by the next morning at 8:20. The purpose of the assignment notebook is to keep your child organized and to keep parents informed. Monthly Calendar Each month your child will receive a new calendar. On the calendar will be upcoming events. It is your child’s job to add events to the calendar as I present them in class.

Timberwolves on Track • Classroom – Students earn rewards from our grade level menu by following the classroom agreement and demonstrating desirable behaviors. • Yellow “Gotcha” slips are put in the class aquarium, and we have a class celebration when we fill the aquarium! • School – Students earn “Gotcha” slips from other staff members for demonstrating desirable behaviors. The white copy goes home, yellow to the teacher, and pink goes to the principal. On Friday morning all students who have earned a “Gotcha” slip stand up and are recognized. All students who have earned a “Gotcha” that week are in a drawing to win a reward from the principal!!

Extra Extra!!! • Binder -calendar / rubrics / daily schedule / homework folder/ monthly calendar • Have a Rainy Day Transportation Plan • New Security System We ask that you always check into the office when entering the school building. The office should give you a sticker badge to wear while you are in the building. • Book Orders- Please send a check made out to Scholastic Books if you are placing an order. • Birthday Recognition Please send in a small item that is easy to pass out. Please distribute birthday invitations outside of school unless everyone in the class is receiving an invitation.
