  1. PLANNING FOR 10th GRADE • I will know what the requirements for graduation are. • I will become familiar with the curriculum guide. • I will forecast for classes for next year. • I will take home my forecasting materials and discuss my choices with my parents/guardian.

  2. Required Credits You need a total of 23 credits to earn a diploma.

  3. English and Math Credits (Page 6) • English 4 • Math 3 Algebra I (1) Geometry (1) Algebra II, or another course (1) The third credit may be completed through an alternative math credit that leads to a specific career goal identified in the High School and Beyond Plan. Appropriate form must be signed.

  4. Social Studies Credits • Social Studies 3 CWP (1) U.S. History (1) World Themes (1)

  5. Additional Credits • Science (Lab) 2 • Occupational Education 1 • Physical Education 1.5 • Health-Wellness .5 • Visual or Performing Art (Same) 1 • Electives 6.5 • Culminating Project & Culminating Assessment Portfolio (CAP) .5

  6. HSPE Testing Requirements Reading and Writing Requirements MustPASSReading AND Writing HSPE OR PASS Equivalent option

  7. End of Course Exams Math Must PASS TWO Math End-of-Course Exams (Math I & Math II) or Make-up Exams OR PASS CAA Option

  9. How credits are earned • .5 credit is earned for each class, each semester. • 6 classes per semester is 3.0 credits (.5 credit x 6 classes) • 3.0 credits x 2 semesters = 6.0 credits for 1 year

  10. Staying on Track (Page 13) • End of 9th = 6.0 credits (at least 5.5) • End of 10th = 12.0 credits (at least 11.0) • End of 11th = 18.0 credits (at least 16.5) • You must have at least 16.5 credits when you start your 12th grade year to be on track to graduate.

  11. ACADEMIC HISTORY • Shows which courses you have taken, and categorizes classes. • Shows how many credits you have attempted and earned • Shows your Grade Point Average (GPA) • And More

  12. Credit tracking Sheet • Each box is .5 credits • Fill in the appropriate boxes to show how much credit you have earned • Which graduation requirements have you finished? • Which areas do you still need to earn credit in?

  17. PLANNING FOR10TH GRADE • You have been assigned an English class and a Math class. • You will all take Health • You will choose a Science class. • You will take World THEMES for a full year for your Social Studies

  18. PLANNING FOR 10TH GRADE • Most of you will choose one or two elective courses. • If you took a language class this year, you should forecast for the next level of the same language. • DO NOT FORECAST FOR THE SAME CLASS YOU TOOK THIS YEAR, IN ANY SUBJECT, UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO.

  19. PLANNING FOR 10TH GRADE • Have you passed all your classes, and will you earn 6.0 credits this year? • If not, talk to your counselor about how to recover credit.

  20. PREREQUISITES • Check to make sure you qualify to take the courses you choose. • Not all courses are available to all grade levels • Some courses require that you have already successfully completed other courses first.

  21. Alternate Courses • Choose 3 elective courses that you would like in the case you do not get all of your first picks. • YOU ARE NOT GAURANTEED TO GET ALL OF THE CLASSES YOU CHOOSE, SO IF YOU DO NOT PICK ALTERNATES, WE CHOOSE COURSES FOR YOU.

  22. USING COURSE CODES • COURSE CODES ARE ENTERED FOR EACH SEMESTER A COURSE IS TAKEN. • FIRST (1ST) SEMESTER COURSES TYPICALLY END IN “1”, EXAMPLE: 6711 = PE, 1STSEMESTER. • SECOND (2ND) SEMESTER COURSES TYPICALLY END IN “2”, EXAMPLE: 6712 = PE, 2ND SEMESTER.
