  1. Adversity • definition: uncomforting misfortune • sentence: the adversity in my family fortune had led to a major crisis.

  2. brawny • definition: overwhelmingly strong • all of my friends seem to be brawny it comes down to weight lifting.

  3. congenial • definition: fitting feeling • mike had seemed like he was enjoying the nice conjenial feeling of the camp place.

  4. decorum • definition: correctness to actions of a person/thing etc... • the actions of decorum, as jade had showed his peer students how to act properly had seemed truly correct.

  5. docile • easily led • my docile dog was so easy to handle.

  6. quell • definition: to overcome • sentence: i had to quell my hardest fears of all time in order to reach my goals that i had set.

  7. repreieve • to delay evil moments • i had to repreive for a while and focus what i had to do for this project.

  8. slanderous • definition: false rumor/information • the slanderous rumor that was spreading throughout the school had temporarily angered me.

  9. transpire • definition: to happen • in order for this event to transpire successfully was crucial

  10. vigilant • definition: cautious • my vigilant friend is always on the watch for things.

  11. ardent • definition: passionate • the ardent man had danced all day but did not feel tired

  12. somber • definition: dark • the somber room had nothing but dead bodies

  13. ambition • definition: aim/goal • my ambition is to get straight a’s this semester

  14. eminent • definition: highly noted • the eminent professor in harvard had recieved another prized award this year

  15. intoxicating • intoxicating: mind trapped / drunken • the intoxicated drug dealers had nothing but their $100 to depend on for the rest of the week

  16. commendation • definition: an act of applause • people love it when others commend them for what they have done

  17. intone • definition: to speak out in a particular tone or voice • you intone your voice when you have something particular that you want to point out

  18. impression • definition: a strong appearence • the impression that my teacher had given me was scary

  19. obligation • definition: when something is obliged to be followed • i was obliged to follow my teachers orders instantly

  20. succumbing • definition: to give into • we had to succumb our army after we had lost approximately 1,000 soldiers in munich

  21. confining • limit and restrict • my parents had confined me to stay at home and complete my assignments

  22. agog • definition: highly excited/lively • my dog turns agog when he sees food

  23. gesticulated • definiton: to make gestures • i had gesticulated poses to express myself in drama class
