  3. God-Honoring Lament Job 1:20: “Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground before God.”

  4. Heart of Gratitude & Praise Job 1:21: “The Lord gave me everything I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!”

  5. Trusts God Even in Difficulties Job 2:10: “Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?”

  6. Expresses Anguish Job 3:24-26: “I cannot eat for sighing; my groans pour out like water. What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come to be. I have no peace, no quietness. I have no rest; instead, only trouble comes.”

  7. Questions God Job 7:19-20: “God, why won’t you leave me alone—even for a moment? Have I sinned? What have I done to you, O watcher of all humanity? Why have you made me your target?”

  8. Grieves Without Sin Job 1:22: “In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.” In Job 42:7 God says to Job’s Friends: “I am angry with you, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has. ..my servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”

  9. Heavenward Hope Job 19:25, 27: “I know my Redeemer lives and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. I myself will see Him…How my heart yearns within me!”
