Introduction • The Historical Context • The history of the Church is one of ideological warfare (II Cor. 10:1-5) • The antichrist movement (I Jn. 2:17-22) • The Renaissance • The Current Situation • The evolutionary hypothesis • Paul Altizer and the “God is dead” movement • A failing education system • Inability to think critically • Philosophy of moral relativism

  3. Introduction (cont’d) • The Current Situation • Philosophy of religious pluralism • Oprah Winfrey theology: “many ways to God” • Believers face a massive task • The current approach is failing • The church is failing to adequately teach our members and kids the truth (I Tim. 3:15; Mt. 5:13)

Introduction (cont’d) • Confronting the Counter-culture (Acts 4:13-22) • There is a need to become much more effective in our ministry • A vision for a Thriving body of believers (Ro. 15:1-13) • This will involve a reconsideration of how Timberlane operates (I Cor 9:22) • Solution: That Timberlane prayerfully develop a framework for growth by forming a strategic planning committee and developing a 5 year strategic plan
