  2. SOLAR POWER • Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity. Solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam.

  3. SOLAR ENERGY • Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the sun. It has been harnessed by humans since ancient times. The sun produces so much solar energy that it produces more energy in one hour than humans can use in one year. There is so much solar energy that if we were to harness all the solar energy that we got from the sun, we would have more energy than we would get from all of the nonrenewable resources on the Earth in one day.

  4. PROS OF SOLAR ENERGY • Solar energy has many benefits to the Earth. • It gives off no pollution • It makes very little noise • Does not need to be placed on a power grid • Can be placed on rooftops so space is spared

  5. CONS OF SOLAR ENERGY • The list of disadvantages of solar energy is much shorter than the advantages. • Power is not being produced during the night and overcast days • The amount of energy produced is affected by the amount of pollution • The solar panels cost over $1000 to install

  6. VOCAB WORDS • Solar Energy-Energy from the sun. • Energy-The ability to do work. • Solar- Sun • Solar Panel-A bundle of photovoltaic cells. • Photovoltaic cell-A cell that measures light intensity.
