Improvements to Existing Model • Model form and structure is better than state of the practice • Place additional emphasis on validation • Leverage use of Airsage and Inrix data • Improve how computation of capacity/ speeds • Streamline facility types • Explore planning level DTA • Begin transition to MOVES

Activity Based Modeling • No pressing need for immediate switch • Stakeholders should clarify and prioritize true needs • Gradual transition to ABM should start soon • Transition Options • Easy - Develop population synthesizer (borrow) • Medium - Pop synthesizer + usual workplace + auto ownership • Hard - Pop synthesizer +full time student model + daily active pattern

Data Development • Quality check of network and attributes • Develop partnership with state to obtain time-of-day counts • Develop regional strategy for transit data and surveys at the service bureau • Work place survey – how good is the distribution model? • Leverage LEHD data • Plan for external travel data development

Land Use • Coordinate land use output based on what the population synthesizer needs? • Build on Community Viz effort by moving towards analytical land use model • Build comprehensive uniform parcel database • Revisit employment data • by type by location (Start thinking about NAICS occupation) • Take ownership of employment forecast

  7. Resources • Current investment seems adequate • Dedicating all funds to permanent staff seems inflexible • Consider utilization of consultants or post docs • Consider re-allocating existing agency resources
