Do not change seats unless instructed by the teacher to do so. • You must complete the above tasks and be in your seat before the tardy bell rings.

  22. During the first 10 minutes… • I will take attendance and prepare the roll during the first 10 minutes. I will not be available to address you at this time unless it is an emergency (blood, illness, seizure, etc.) • You should quietly review the day’s agenda… • Then, complete your journal activity from the board or projector. • When you finish this, organize/update your binder, move on to the next activity, or wait quietly for the next set of directions.

  23. During instruction… • Listen to and watch the Teacher with full attention! • Don’t whisper or talk to those seated around you. • Take notes only when designated to do so. • Ask permission to speak by raising your hand. (Not yelling the teacher’s name). • Ask questions related to the subject. Non-related issues should be held until after instruction. • Make sure you understand all concepts. If not, be sure to ask questions.

  24. While you are working… • Make sure you refer to your instructions/directions/notes and other resources as necessary. • Remain seated, on task and use your time wisely. Due dates approach quickly! • Do not wander around the room. Hold trash and your binder until you are dismissed. • You may consult a “study buddy” near you for help in understanding how to complete an assignment. Do not give answers, just assistance! If you still don’t understand, ask the teacher for help. • There should be no talking other than offering brief assistance. These conversations should not be above a low whisper.

  25. If the Teacher needs your attention… • I will say “Excuse me, give me your attention please.” • Immediately stop what you are doing at that moment. • Face the teacher and wait silently for instructions. • Do not talk or whisper or continue working while the teacher is talking. You may miss some very important information.

  26. After you are done… • Check your work and the instructions one more time for accuracy. • Be sure you have an appropriate header on the assignment. • Turn in the assignment to the designated place if directed to do so. • Complete the closing journal entry in your binder, review your notes and/or read the next lesson silently. • Remain seated and quiet until dismissal.
