  3. Continents • A continent is one of several very large landmasses on Earth. They are generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria, with up to seven regions commonly regarded as continents.

  5. COUNTRIES – are part of continents ASIA SOUTH AMERICA

  6. Country • A country is a region that is identified as a distinct entity in political geography. • United States, England, France, China, Egypt, Australia, Brazil and Mexico • Can you think of any other countries?

  8. States • a nation or territory considered as an organized political community under one government. • Illinois, Texas, California • Can you think of two more states?

  10. Counties • a political and administrative division of a state, providing certain local governmental services. • What County do we live in? • Sangamon
