  1. Trekking in Bhutan AB Travel

  2. Bhutan’s taxing mountainous terrains have been trekked by its hardy citizens for ages. Until the early 1960s there were no roads, and travel was always an affair of two bare feet. As modern development kicked off began and roads reached many parts of the country, people travelled less often on foot leaving the old trails to tourists.

  3. Therefore, Bhutan’s famous trekking routes, including some old trade routes, attract a large number of trekkers each year. Bhutan has some of the most difficult routes in the world, the more formidable one being the 24-day Snowman Trek. There are also less strenuous ones like the popular 5-day Druk Path Trek. Trekking through rural and isolated habitations high in the mountains, you will come across several mountain passes and will have the opportunity to experience the tough highland life firsthand. You will also have the opportunity to interact with warm and gentle people of the communities you will pass through.

  4. Trekking in Bhutan is organized and involves camping in several sites along the trails. Your luggage will be transported from one overnight stop to the next by a porter pony. You are advised to trek light with only a few personal items like the water bottle, camera and sun-cream.

  5. Altitude can be a problem for some trekkers, especially the novices. Many tourists, for example, are not able to complete the daunting 350-kilometer Snowman Trek. But then, let all these not bother you. Ours is an experienced trekking company with knowledgeable guides who have done these routes many times in their career. Moreover, your health and safety is of paramount concern to us, and that’s why we go for immaculate planning while deciding and doing a trek. We are also able to organize immediate evacuation should the need arise.

  6. Trekking Bhutan’s old routes can be a life-changing experience. It not only demands strength and grit but also a degree of humility as you see the Himalayas through a different perspective. You are literally in the thin air, feeling heady about being on the top of the world, healthy and good.

  7. We at Adventure Bhutan Travel believe in responsible trekking and therefore seek active engagement of the local communities. We encourage our guests to contribute to Bhutan’s clean environment by not creating ‘garbage trails’ through indiscriminate disposal of non-biodegradable wastes like plastic food wrappers and pet bottles. We also do not use firewood for cooking if we are on a trek. Instead, we use ponies to carry cooking gas. We strongly believe that each and every tour operator must take the lead in sustaining green tourism and help Bhutan remain one of the best trekking destinations in the world.
