  3. Chow’s Performing career • ZhouXingChi was a very common boy and lived in a single parent family. He was fascinated by Bruce Lee(李小龙) in his childhood. • After having seen Bruce Lee’s movies ,chow decided to study martial arts（武术）. In 1982, after graduating from high school, Chow auditioned（参加面试） for Hong Kong’s TVB acting school, but didn’t make the cut(录取). The next year, he was chosen to be master of ceremonies of the children’s program “430”(430穿梭机). • He was not fond of children, but his performance went over well and he stayed on the show for five years. • For several years after that, he worked on a variety of programs, and moved into drama, becoming even more popular.

  4. In 1988, Chow played one of the leads in the movie Pili Xianfeng, winning Best Supporting Actor at the Taiwan Academy Awards（台湾金马奖）. It was his first film.

  5. He had his first starring role in 1990 in the movie-- DuSheng and started excelling in the comedy genre(类型).

  6. He made 29 films from 1990 to 1993 and became the number one of Hong Kong film actor in the 1990s.

Performance Style and Representative Movies • His performance style experience three periods: 1.Exploration period (1988--1990) In this period, he began to play a main role in movies, but he was not popular and well known. There are few representative movies in this period. Representative movies: PiLiXianFeng GaLiLaJiao

  8. 2.“WuLiTou” period(1990--1994) “WuLiTou” was also called “make no sense”. It means that a person speak and do things is difficult to understand, but it isn’t unreasonable. As we all know, he was the founder of the style “WuLiTou”. There are many movies which are very popular in this time. Such as: ZhengRenZhuanJia TaoXueWeiLong ShenSiGuan, LuDingJi, JiuPinZhiMaGuan, TangBoHuDianQiuXiang, WuZhuangYuanSuQiEr, JiGong, JiaYouXiShi DuSheng and so on.

  9. 3.Transformation period(1994--1999) In this time, zhou’s movie “King of Comedy” attained annual champion. He didn’t only creat humorous movies ,but also made movies more diversified(多元化的). Representative movies: DaHuaXiYou XiJuZhiWang GuoChanLingLingQi DaNeiMiTanLingLingFa and so on.

  13. XiJuZhiWang This movie is about dream and love. At the beginning of the film, the actor shouts “try hard, struggle” toward the sea. The actor is a amateur(业余的) actor at first ,so he isn’t respected by others. But he is a self-respecting, persistent and kind man. He insists on his dream and believes that he will be a professional actor one day.
