Class Expectations Students are expected to • come to class on time with materials, homework, and current work. • follow classroom routines and rules. • complete classwork and homework on time. • see the teacher for any work missing work especially after an absence. • respect classmates and teacher. • work to the best of their abilities

  4. SpringBoard Units of Study • Unit 1 : Changes in Me (personal narrative and expository essay) • Unit 2 : Changes in My World (short story and TV news story) • Unit 3 : Changes in Self Perception (letter and character analysis) • Unit 4 : Measuring Changes in Me (revising, reflecting, and publishing) • Unit 5 : Changing Times and Places (scene from a play)

  5. Units of Study • In every unit, students will focus on • sentence structure • capitalization • punctuation • spelling • word choice • purpose and audience • academic vocabulary

  6. Homework • Springboards Workbook pages • Writing entries • Drafting work • Revision and editing work • Grammar work • Vocabulary • Publishing

  7. Homework/Assignments • Written in the planner • Given on a regular basis • Listed on webpage • Team calendar

  8. Grading Policy Students will be graded on the following : • Assessments 50% • Classwork 40% • Homework 10%

  9. Parental Involvement • Check the quality of your child’s work • Check to see they have the supplies and materials they need • Check their notebooks • Check their planner • Sign graded work, quizzes, and tests.
