  2. What is an Indirect Statement? An indirect statement or question is used when related to thought or communication. • Indirect Statement: Accusative + the Infinitive. • Example: Scio + vos esse molestissimos. I know That you are very troublesome.

  3. Above The Shoulder Verbs • What kind of verb sets up an indirect statement? -an above the shoulder the verb Examples of above the shoulder verbs; saying, thinking, knowing, seeing, hearing, believing, and feeling. Scio – I know Puto – I think video – I see Audio – I hear

  4. Translate the following Indirect Statement Sentences: • Mater scivit patrem ad villam ambulaturum esse Mother knew that father would walk to the house. Scio canem meum domum venire I know that my dog is coming to the house Putavimus te in foro hodie laboravisse. We think that you had worked today in the forum.

  5. Infinitives • The future infinitive and the perfect infinitive are also used in indirect statements Example: Puto Aureliam eo non ituram esse I think that Aureliawill not go there The infinitive in this sentence is ituram esse which is a future active infinitive.
