  1. Rainy Day Activity Ideas for the Gold Coast

  2. It's a simple fact that rain happens – even on the beautiful Gold Coast and even while you’re on holiday. However, there’s no need to let a little rain ruin your holiday plans. When there’s rain outside, there’s still plenty to do on the Gold Coast.

  3. For example, you could stretch your muscles with some indoor rock climbing, experience the thrill of being a race car driver, partake in the arts, take in a movie, or just have some good old-fashioned family fun.

  4. The Gold Coast has some of the best beaches, greenery, landmarks and wildlife in the world, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some great indoor sites as well. So, if you’re planning to take a holiday and don’t have a backup plan for those rainy days, just check out the list below.

  5. Go Climbing! Indoor Rock Climbing Who says you must be outdoors to rock climb? No one! Because, rock climbing is actually a well-known, fun and respectable indoor activity. And, thanks to the Paramount Adventure Centre, you can climb “mountains” without going outside.

  6. The centre offers 850 metres of rock climbing walls for both novice and advanced climbers. Plus, instructors are there to ensure you remain safe (with safety harnesses and helmets), get the guidance you need and have as much fun as possible.

  7. The Thrill of Racing Having a simulated racing experience is a great way to get some excitement on a dreary, rainy day. It doesn’t matter if you’re a novice, moderately experienced or advanced driver, you can pick your course, your car and drive to your heart’s content (sort of like a real race car driver).

  8. Driving centres typically have staff on hand to help you choose the best car for your comfort and skill level, and walk you through any safety procedures. Drivers are usually given three rounds: practice, qualifying and final round.

  9. Partake in the Arts The arts are alive, well and apparently abundant on the Gold Coast. When the rain has you down, an artistic atmosphere might be just what you need to boost your spirits. All you’ll have to do is check out a Gold Coast art facility – particularly, the Arts Centre Gold Coast.

  10. The Arts Centre Gold Coast offers two cinemas, an Arts Theatre, a café and a comedy club (The Basement). This means you can catch a movie, enjoy an art exhibit with a cup of coffee or a nice pastry in your hand or be entertained by some knee-slapping jokes.

  11. Not to mention it’s fun for the entire family, as there’s a youth program with performing arts and art exhibits for kids.

  12. Old-fashioned Family Fun There’s plenty for the family to do on the Gold Coast…inside or outside. For example, you could take your family bowling, play inside miniature golf, go-kart racing, go to the arcade, play Dodgems, Laser Tag and other games, hang out at a cool museum or haunted house, see a movie or safely explore nature by visiting the wildlife sanctuary.

  13. CurrumbinWildlife Sanctuary is one of the most popular Gold Coast tourist attractions. It’s dedicated to preserving Australia’s natural, historic and indigenous culture and wildlife. Native animals are kept in their natural rainforest and bushland environments, which is beneficial for them and exciting for visitors.

  14. You’ll get to enjoy the sight of animals in their natural habitat without having to be in the natural habitat yourself. Besides that, you can zipline through the trees, feed the crocodiles, learn about the aboriginal culture through dance and storytelling, go on a Segway safari or cuddle a koala.

  15. There are so many activities there, just like there are so many other Gold Coast activities – rain or shine.
