  3. What does distribution of weight mean? • The greater the area that weight is distributed the lower the pressure.

  4. How can we tell the difference between force and pressure?

  5. Pressure = Force / Area Pressure is equal to the force exerted on a service divided by the total area over which the force is exerted

  6. When an are is measured in square meters… • The unit of pressure is N/M2 • Or called pascal (Pa) • 1 N/M2 = 1 Pa

  7. Try this… • A solid block of wood has a square base 1m X 1m and weighs 5,000 N. How much pressure does it excerpt on the floor underneath.
