Make a Pro/Con list with arguments for & against the development of robots. • Consider past, present & future uses. • Consider the 3 laws in I, Robot • A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction allow a human being to come to harm • A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law • A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

In conclusion • Choose a robotic devise (either one we have discussed or one with which you are familiar) and develop a design improvement for an everyday robot that would increase its autonomy (independence) and usefulness • Questions to address: • 1. What will it do & what will it be called? • 2. What areas of daily life will it affect? • 3. How will it supplement or replace a human activity? • 4. What interaction will humans have with it (either directly or indirectly)? • 5. How will it change the way people experience daily life at home, school, and/or work? • 6. How will it affect the way people behave, think or interact? • 7. To what degree might it improve safety and/or efficiency for people? • 8. How far in the future might this technology actually be available
