No way to tell where it really is. • SPIN FITS: • Not recoverable. We lose virtually everything if the signal goes over range. • ON-ORBIT MAG RANGE ADJUSTMENT (ATS) • BELOW 6 Re : Use Range 0 (+/- 25000 nT) • OUTSIDE 6 Re : Use Range 4 (+/- 1563 nT)

  18. P3 SIM RESULTS Simulated Pass is too short to remove 375 Mb at GSE Rate 5

  19. P3 SIM RESULTS

  20. ISSUES • P3 SIMULATION RESULTS and ISSUES • Too Much RAW Data Being Generated • 453 (MOMENTS) occurring every spin • CANNOT Cut Down the Rate • 4-byte Data Instead of 2-bytes, 212 Bytes Every Spin • FSW Compressor/Decimator Needed • 451 (TRIGGER) occurring every second • Reformatting to remove filter data (will cut to ¼ volume) in V4.01 • Remove 451 during Slow Survey • Need a budget. What’s a reasonable amount to save and replay? • 452 (SST Engineering) • Not accounted in the total data budget (Vassilis’) • Not a whole lot of data, can be cut another factor of 4 or eliminated. • Compression Works Well (>2.5 ratio) • GSE Does Not Handle Telemetry Fast Enough in 30 minutes to remove 375 Mbits • Extend Pass in order to get this done • Need Shadow Entry and Exit Scripts • Need Solar Wind Entry and Exit Scripts • New EEPROM Loads Required to Make EFI, SST and ESA Work in Solar Wind • FSW Able to Load from Multiple EEPROM Directories (have not yet tried this!)

  21. PLAN • PLAN • SST/ESA MOMENTS • Decimation Specification – Completed and Approved • FSW Developed and Test – Completed • GSE Software Modification – Jim Lewis • Splitter Software Modification – Jim Lewis • SST/ESA REFORMATTING (ETC Version 5) • New FSW Support to Start New Directories – • SST/ESA ReTest – Cannot be Done on ETU
