  1. Almost One In Four Young Adults Are Teetotal

  2. Going Out Drinking? No Thanks! As Almost One In Four Young Adults Today Are Teetotal There was a time when young people couldn’t wait to be able to legally purchase alcohol. But, times change, and going by contemporary research, it seems many young adults these days are choosing not to drink at all. Based on a recent report, around 25% are teetotal. The Society of Independent Brewers (Siba) publishes an annual report, centred on the craft beer industry, examining trends and market progress. In this year’s report from the beginning of March, Siba discovered a rise in young people choosing low alcohol beers or abstaining from drinking altogether. The report revealed nearly one in four 18 to 24-year-olds choose not to consume alcohol, amounting to a rise of over 5% in the past year. The drinks industry has seen an increase in the popularity of low or non-alcohol beers in the UK. There has been an estimated upsurge in sales of these, going back four years, to more than one in four. Increase in teetotal young adults A University of Sheffield study also revealed that the number of 16 to 24-year-olds going teetotal increased to almost one in four in a 15-year period from 2001 to 2016.

  3. If you are a young adult considering abstinence, then you’re not alone. Many famous people are teetotal, from Hollywood stars Jim Carrey and Jennifer Lopez, to British actress Kate Beckinsale and Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe. Daniel has spoken about his problems with alcohol and gave up drinking almost a decade ago. People from all sections of society can struggle with addiction and may choose to abstain, while others may not enjoy the taste of alcohol. It is seemingly no longer obligatory for those reaching drinking age to consume. According to research, many young adults are choosing not to, as low or no alcohol beer grows in popularity. There was a time when, if you were a young person, going out drinking was the norm. But, as tastes and habits change, it seems to be cooler to cut down your alcohol intake, or to be teetotal, and forego drinking altogether.
