Scholarship: Pros and Cons • Evaluate the following: • your “Institutional Reality,” particularly long-term realities • the commitment you are ready to make given the immediate benefits • the type and quantity of scholarship necessary to earn your duck bill • and, um, whether you actually like to research and write

  3. Scholarship Basics • How many of you are required to produce scholarship? • If so, what are the requirements? • How many of you have actually produced scholarship? If so: • What topic(s) have you addressed? • What types of documents? • Where have you placed these documents?

  4. Topic Selection • Calls for Papers: Benefits • Deadline gets you writing • Likelihood of being published increases • If selected, you avoid having to shop the article • If not selected, you have a finished article to shop • The topic has been focused for you
