  2. Goals: • Learn about: new heroes (heroines) roles women played in the Holocaust • Define and Identify: Perpetrator, Victim, Bystander, Upstander

  3. The Perpetrator • A person who commits an illegal, criminal or evil act

  4. The Victim • A person who suffers from a destructive or injurious action of another Gypsy prisoners at Belzec awaiting instructions

  5. The Bystander • A person who is present but not involved, an onlooker

  6. The Upstander • A person who is present and takes action to ensure a positive outcome Soldiers liberate prisoner at Dachau

  7. Activity • Form into groups (Recorder, Researcher & Spokesperson) • Assigned an individual • Study the individual and summarize her story • Indicate the Perpetrator, Victim, Bystander, and Upstander

  8. Debrief • Spokesperson will tell their Individual’s summary • Spokesperson will identify the Perpetrator, Victim, Bystander, and Upstander in their story

  9. Discuss What would you do?

  10. What makes a… • Perpetrator • Victim • Bystander • Upstander (similarities and characteristics)
