  2. LIBRARY RULES • Be Respectful • No food drink or gum • Treat books kindly • Clean up after yourself • Always bring books back • You must have a pass • Sign the log book • READ, READ, READ

  3. Jackson High School Library • Offers a safe place to study, read and locate information on a variety of topics. • Students are welcome to use the equipment and materials within the library • Students are expected to respect all people and equipment by using the library responsibly

  4. Dos and Don’ts Students… • Must have a pass when coming to the library (student is responsible for return signature) • Will sign in the log book • If not working on an assignment purposefully will be asked to leave • Come to the library prepared with what they need to work on • No food, drink of gum • No iPods, MP3 players and assorted handhelds • Will only use the computer for school related projects, no games

  5. Check It Out • Two books may be checked out at a time • Do not check out materials to anyone else but yourself • Books are kept 2 weeks • Books can be renewed • Magazines and Reference can not be checked out • Any student caught taking a book with out checking it out will be dealt with by school admin staff.

  6. Reminder • Do not reshelf books • If you decide a book is not what you want leave it on the table or give it to a library staff member • This helps to ensure the book returns to its proper place.

  7. Return On Time • Students are expected to return books on time (2 week) • Return books to the circulation desk (book drop) • Please return books in the shape at which you checked it out • There will be a fine added for any late or damaged book returned.

  8. Overdues and Fines • The student will be responsible for any lost book at the cost of the book. • Be sure to check date due slip in the back of then book, the reminds you when it is due back. • Overdue notice will be sent to teacher periodically, reminding you of any outstanding books and fines. • After a 2 weeks period of time if a book is kept after a fine will be added at 5 cents per day.

  9. Find it @ the Library • Fiction • Nonfiction • Biography • Autobiography • Reference • Periodicals (Magazines/Newspapers)

  10. Other Sections • New Section in the library this year is the series section Other Sections are: • College and Career • Books/Genre of the Month

  11. Copies • Printing and copies can be made in the library for 10 cents per page. • Make sure to print preview before printing

  12. Accelerated Reader • Program where points are earned for reading books • Students who read a certain amount can participate in the AR parade • Students with over 100 points in AR at the end of the school year will get an award at Awards Day • The student with the highest points will be presented with a $50 gift at Awards Night • There will be other opportunities throughout the year that AR points will earn you more rewards so keep reading!!
