The Substitute Sacrifice of Atonement Sin brings death – Genesis 2:17; 3:21 Animal sacrifices are deficient (Hebrews 10:4; Jeremiah 7:21-23; Hosea 6:6) Faith is the means of applying the atoning sacrifice (Psalm 40:6-8; 51:16-17) Animal sacrifices were the shadow of what was to come (Hebrews 10)

  28. Subsitutionary Atonement Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial system Burnt offering – sinless & wholly dedicated to God Grain offering – He gained God’s favor Sin offering - He is the atonement Guilt offering – Redeemed & cleansed Peace offering – Reconciled God & man

  29. Subsitutionary Atonement Jesus’ atonement, which reconciles us to God and makes us clean before Him, is applied to us only by faith
