PIRCOM:“a prosperous Mozambique, free from malaria forever” • PIRCOM – “Inter-Religious Program Against Malaria”, is a faith-based initiative created in 2006 and committed to improving the life of Mozambican population by mobilizing communities to strive for the elimination of malaria. • It was founded as the first multi-faith-based alliance dedicated to using social networks to mobilize and create a positive impact on communities in the fight against malaria through prevention and by disseminating and point out to treatment opportunities. • Partnership with MOH, and funded by USAID and local organizations, with tech support from ADRA, PSI and FHI.

  3. PIRCOM Intervention Strategy:Based on Social Communication Change (SBCC), at two key pillars • Interpersonal Communication – Home visits for messages-actions delivery about prevention and malaria treatment opportunities by trained volunteers • Mass Communication - Sermons diffusion in places of worship about malaria prevention and opportunities for treatment by Religious Leaders (Muslim and Christian Sermon Guides)

Our Services/Our Capabilities: PIRCOM Services and Capabilities fall into the following categories: • Advocacy • Building Faith Leaders Capacity • Building PIRCOM Volunteers Capacity • Mobilizing Communities Transfer Model • PIRCOM is open to transfer the model used in the issues of malaria to other challenges in the area of public health and embracing other causes in collaboration with MoH.
