  9. ”BROTHERS IN WHITE” • A study published in 2009 shows: • Higher share of men in nursing homes for elderly improves job satisfaction • BUT: Men think that female collegues are • ”picking” on them, and women think that • male collegues are slow and untidy… • Still low shares of male nurse students. • Currently in Agder University: only 9%

MEASURES FOR NEW MALE GENDER ROLES IN VEST-AGDER • Recognizing that young boys experience that their choices • are more limited than those for girls. • A main perspective within our 10-years commitment for • gender equality. Attitude change is longterm work… • In the project ”Free Choice” (started in 2008) we • work on gender roles from kindergarten to university. • Systematic development of measures and methods on • each education level • Mens premises and male role models are crucial, both in • the project management and in the wide range of • measures.
