  13. What is EI? Emotional Intelligence is a way of recognizing, understanding, and choosing how we think, feel, and act.

Personal Competence how we manage ourselves • Self Awareness – ability to recognise and understand your moods, emotions and drives, as well as their effect on others, knowing your strengths and weaknesses • Self Regulation - ability to control impulses and moods • Motivation - passion to pursue goals with energy

  18. 2. Social Competence how we handle relationships • Empathy - awareness of other’s feelings and concerns • Social skills - proficiency in managing relationships, adeptness in inducing desirable responses, such as communication, conflict management, cooperation, and leadership

  19. 3. Self Mastery how we master our life Self Remembrance - being aware of one’s emotions and drives and living with the flow

LOW or HIGH EI? • Doesn’t know life’s purpose and what to do • 'You always make me feel....' • Cannot share feelings verbally • Negative feelings dominate • Not perceptive to others' feelings • Carries grudges, unforgiving • Acts without reasoning or logic • Poor listener • Talks about problems LOW

  34. Simple tips to enhance ei • Stay with the feeling.Don’t interrupt or change the subject. • Don’t judge or edit your feelings. • Allow the feelings on the unconscious level to surface. • Listen to your body. • Write your feelings and thoughts down.
