  4. Register for these courses together: • The “Block”: ES312: General Methods (2 cr.) ES317: Middle Level Methods (2 cr.) ES328: Content Area Reading and Study Skills (2 cr.) ES318: Teacher Assisting (1 cr.) Total: 7-8 cr. (MUED 318 = 2 cr.) ->Take Praxis II (major and minor) ->Apply to student teach

  5. Which section to register for: • 001: M-F 8-9:50 (music must register for these sections AND register for MUED 318 instead of CI318) • 002: M-F 10-11:50 (art must register for these sections) • ES312, 317, 328 meet concurrently for 9-10 weeks, then 318 begins • Teacher Assisting is a field placement which lasts for 5 weeks, M-R (CI prefixed courses cease to meet) • All students return to class on Fridays throughout the field experience

  6. Other Courses: • Other methods courses must be taken along with the “block” • Examples: ES356, ES359, ES350, ES366, ES437 • Some methods courses can be taken earlier than block (e.g. ENG319, 419) • ES490 and SPED300 can be taken along with block

  7. What’s after block? • About half of EAA/ECA students have an intervening semester between block and student teaching. • Others go from block directly to student teaching

  8. Registering for Student Teaching • EAA: • ES 445 (7 cr.) • ES 470 (7 cr.) • ES 497 (1 cr.) • ECA: • ES 441 (7 cr.) • ES 445 (7 cr.) • ES 497 (1 cr.) • Music: enroll in only MUED 487 and FED 497 • Some Options: • Texas • Milwaukee • Abroad • Internships
