  5. OBJECTIVE • Exploring Energy Saving Opportunities in BSNL and Disseminating information to all Employees

  6. VISION Promoting Efficient use of Electrical Energy and its Conservation

Energy Conservation Act • Energy Conservation Act 2001 provides for Energy Auditing and Energy Conservation of Designated Consumers. • The Act provides grace period of 5 years, I.e., up to 1st Mar, 2007, for creation of infrastructure and thereafter there will be penalties for non-introduction of energy conservation measures.

  8. Energy Conservation Act-Contd • For Buildings having Connected Load more than 500 KW, it will be mandatory to appoint qualified Energy Managers after 1st March, 2007. • The Govt of India has set a target of reducing Energy Consumption by 30% in Govt Buildings by 1st March, 2007.

  10. GOALS & OBJECTIVES • Make Energy Conservation a Mass Movement with involvement of all our employees. • Monitor and Control consumption of energy through Energy Management Groups • To reduce specific energy consumption in all our operations and activities.

  11. GOALS & OBJECTIVES • Recognise the Efforts of our Staff in Energy Conservation. • Share and Enrich our experience on Energy Conservation with SSAs/ Circles

BSNL TN STATUS • Energy Conservation to reduce operating cost & to remain competitive. • BSNL TN has already adopted No Cost & Low Cost measures for reducing energy consumption in Telecom Exchanges. • There are 2020 Telephone Exch in TN. Energy Audit Completed in 1108 exch . All the 10 exchanges with Connected Load of more than 500 KW Energy Audit Completed • Energy Saving Rs.58.91 lakhs for Power Factor, Rs.11.91 lakhs for reduction in CMD • Electtricity Bill for 2006-07 Rs. 107.11 Cr

  14. ENERGY CONSERVATION AWARDS • Energy Conservation Day to be Observed on 14th December 2007 • Energy Conservation Awards at Circle and Corporate Office Level as SSA as a Unit • Organise Seminars and Awareness Programmes
