The story so far • Jan – March 2012: Consultation • May: Findings and Recommendations Report • June: applicant survey • 14 June: policy announcement by Westminster government • June – July: visits to School Direct providers • 6 September: GTTR Advisory Board agree model to incorporate consultation findings and future policy changes • 17 September: meeting with current GTTR members and other stakeholders; first meeting of GTTR Working group • 21 September: UCAS Board endorsed proposals • November, March and June: Working group meetings • January onwards: development of new scheme • July: Awareness Events

Drivers for change 1 • Change in English teaching education provision • Declared move to increased provision through schools giving an increased likelihood of applications being made through GTTR plus another route • Feedback from providers • Improved information for all routes into teaching should be held in one location to reduce the need for applicants to contact multiple sources • Increased and improved data collection needed to provide efficiencies in processing • Feedback from applicants • Simultaneous processing of choices would make process fairer • Quicker decision making needed with no Stops

Drivers for change 2 • Feedback from all • Applications for all routes into postgraduate • teaching should be through one • scheme with no restrictions by • route • Both current GTTR members and • future school members of the scheme • should be accommodated • The scheme should be straight forward to • use and easily identified • The scheme should fit all UK countries Schools Universities Colleges
