  1. REFORMATION SUNDAY

  2. REFORMATION SUNDAY OCTOBER 30, 2011 Church of God Aged Ministers Offering

  3. SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR CHURCH OF GOD CONGREGATIONS “The pastor of each local church shall set aside Reformation Sunday in honor of aged ministers for the purpose of raising a special love offering” (Minutes, 2010, p. 122).

  4. BLESSED GIFT One fourth of the offering will be used to help fund financial assistance to aged ministers with emergency needs. Three fourths of the offering will be given as a special love gift to retired ministers and widows at Christmas.

  5. HONORABLE GIFT “The elders who direct the affairs of the church are worthy of double honor” (1 Timothy 5:17, NIV). "Rise in the presence of the aged , show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:32, NIV).

  6. DESERVED GIFT Early Church of God ministers and families willingly sacrificed in order that the church could fulfill the Great Commission. They deserve our gifts of love today.

  7. WORTHY GIFT Pioneer ministers know the value of love offerings. They will diligently use every gift for the glory of God and His Kingdom.

  8. TRADITIONAL GIFT In 1992 the Church of God General Assembly voted to give Reformation Sunday love offerings to aged ministers annually.

  9. HISTORICAL GIFT Reformation Sunday celebrates the historical beginning of the doctrinal emphasis of the reformers—“The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17).

  10. HISTORICAL DAY Of the 6,298 local Churches of God, 547 responded with gifts totaling $62,948 in 2010. Our goal for 2011 is that at least one third of our local congregations will respond.

  11. DAY OF PRAISE We give thanks to God for our forefathers in the faith who have led us into a life of faith so that our sons and daughters can proclaim the faith of the Great Commission.
