Plan on a Page/Maintenance Items • Measurable Expectations – an observable, preferably numerical, achievable target or objective selected by the campus that guides and measures the success of the campus • Action Plans – an action, strategy or program that is taking place on your campus. Measurable Expectations • Numerical in value and can be measure using current or past data as start point • Specific, not vague or full of “buzz” words or adjectives • Should have no more than 5 expectations for each Board Goal • Examples of ME • Increase SAT scores for students who are Economically Disadvantaged by 10% • A minimum of four parent nights will be held at each elementary Action Plans/Maintenance Items • Detailed description of programs or strategies that will be used/implemented on your campus. These items should be pertinent to the Board Goals and may or may not be tied to a Measurable Expectation

State Testing • ELLs and the 60-day rule • Students must now be enrolled for 60 consecutive days in a school year for that school year to count towards the calculation of years in U.S. schools • TAKS • No more primary administrations • Starting in October, any TAKS Cohort 11th grader or higher is required to test • TAKS is still a grade level assessment, so 9th and 10th graders are not eligible to test until classified as an 11th grader

Student Residency Questionnaires • Addresses the McKinney-Vento Act 42 U.S.C. 11435 • Answers to this help determine services the student may be eligible for • If a student/family indicates “Yes” and “Yes” to SRQ, they must complete remainder of form that best describes residency • Information to be verified by campus designee (usually counselor). This person also determines Project H.E.L.P. referral (consent must be obtained). • Once verified, designee indicates “Q” on top of form and faxes to FSP office • SRQ verified by district homeless liaison (Bobby Martinez) and copy returned to campus/submission of Project H.E.L.P. referrals to Y&FCS

Parent Conferences • No changes have been made to Parent Conference Guidelines • Conferences should be held from September through December 2013 • Student/Parent/Teacher Compact signed. • Teachers must complete a minimum of 6 hours on their non-duty (before or after school hours) time to earn compensation time. • Comp Time to be taken on: December 20, 2013 and March 7, 2014. • Deadline for Teachers earning Comp Time by Friday, December 13, 2013. • Parent Conference documentation page due to campus principal by Thursday, December 19, 2013. • Title I campuses must include Campus Summary page and copy of Student/Parent/Teacher compact in Title I binder.

Video Announcements Principals, would you like to engage your students and staff with your announcements?  Would you like to complete the week’s announcements in one sitting?  If you answered yes to either question, please contact Charles Bagley (cbagley@alvinisd.net) for more information. Cyber Safety Week We will be celebrating Cyber Safety Week, September 30th through October 4th this year. Ashlee Daniell will be sending out an email to all Principals and DTLT members on Friday, September 13th containing information about Cyber Safety Week. Please send this out to your parents through your e-News. The email will also contain teacher resources and lessons teachers can complete with students. Cyber Safety week was moved up from May in order to be more effective, especially with the Elementary and High School BYOD initiatives.   

  39. TCEA Conference The target audience for TCEA is elementary teachers, this year, since it’s the first year of the BYOD initiative for all elementary campuses in grades 3-5. Therefore, each elementary campus principal will be able to select and send 2 teachers from their campus to TCEA. Principals will need to submit their two teachers to Vickie Maliszeski by September 18th via a Google Doc that we will be emailing out. Other details are below: ·The conference is February 3-7 in Austin. ·Teachers will leave on Monday, February 3rd and return on Thursday, February 6th. ·There will be two people per hotel room. ·We will be using Title Funds to pay for TCEA for teachers therefore, campuses cannot choose to send a librarian as one of their two teachers. ·All teachers will complete their TCEA registration (Premium Registration) and send copies of the email registration to Vicki M. by Sept. 26th. ·All individuals will be expected to take school transportation (i.e. suburban). Those individuals wanting to take their own vehicle will not be reimbursed mileage. ·Subs will be provided.

  40. Librarians & TCEA Since we cannot use Title funds to pay for librarians to attend TCEA, Technology Services will be covering the cost. At this time, we only have enough funds available to send 4 librarians to TCEA. Therefore, we will send out an email asking all librarians to tell us if they want to attend TCEA and if they do then their name will be put into a drawing. The two librarians that attended last year, FJH and HC, will be excluded. Laura Davidson will contact the librarians selected so they can register for TCEA. Librarians will adhere to the same guidelines as teachers. Campuses Paying for TCEA If you would like to send a teacher or librarian to TCEA and use campus funds you may do so. Just remember to use Title funds for teachers(AHS/MHS can use House Bill funds) and regular campus funds for librarians as we want to avoid a supplant/supplement issue with Title funds. Campuses will also have to provide subs. Technology All three Instructional Technology Specialists and Beaute See will be attending TCEA and will be communicating and/or meeting with teachers and librarians on a daily basis during the conference to share workshop ideas/experiences/tools/resources. John Wilds, Victor Jasso, and Laura Perez will be attending the vendor Exhibit Hall only on Feb. 5th and 6th. Everyone attending TCEA will be expected to share what they learned at TCEA with their campus and/or department.
