Kaufmann • Owner of Kaufmann’s Department Store • Owned vacation land outside of Pittsburg • Approached Frank Lloyd Wright to design and build a permanent vacation home at the location outside of Pittsburg. • Frank Lloyd Wright • Architect who would design and construct Falling Water home for the Kaufmann family, becoming his greatest masterpiece.

  3. Wright’s Concept • Kaufmann wanted elements of nature incorporated thoroughly into design of the house. • Wright takes idea one step further • Reflects aspects of nature throughout plan • Positions the house over a water fall on the Bear Run River.
