Train to GainNATIONAL PICTURE • 43,470 employers have been engaged by Skills Brokers and providers in the first 14 months of the programme. • There are 28,780 employers starting on the LSC-funded qualifications. • 71 % of the employers that have been engaged to date are Hard to Reach. • 21,440 referrals have been made by Skills Brokers to a range of skills support • 85.7% of employers are satisfied with the overall service

Train to GainTRAIN TO GAIN -IS HERE TO STAY !!! • Demand led - colleges and training providers to introduce greater flexibility into the way they can work directly with employers. • Leitch Report–Increased focus to achieve 2020 target of 95% literate and skilled workforce. • Response to Leitch report confirms key Government support for up-skilling the workforce.

Train to Gain UNDERSTANDING THE LEARNER JOURNEY • To analyse the learner journey for both broker and ‘light touch’ referrals. • To identify barriers/gaps and submit proposals to overcome gap between indicative and starts. • Pilot of 6 Providers: • Herts Consortium • Norfolk Consortium • CRC • Mymar • West Suffolk College Consortium • Construction Learning World

Train to GainMARKETING - United We Stand – Divided We Fall !!! • WE MUST HAVE – A coordinated marketing approach • Use intermediary organisations to reach and engage with specific sectors, groups or localities. • Reach ethnic minority business groups. • Undertake shared awareness-raising events – road shows, business breakfasts, etc. • Use Sector-focused awareness events ,based around identified business needs – to groups of employers and business clusters. • Effective networking and partnerships with/to employer groups, Sector Skills Councils, union learning representatives, voluntary and community organisations to reach employers.

Train to GainOPPORTUNITIES IN MOVING FORWARD Joint Working • share intelligence and good practice to study the labour market, business demographics, insight into particular sector needs, case studies, information on the development of regional and local economic strategies. • work to evaluate effectiveness and improve provision. • avoid duplication and maximise the potential for economies of scale. • devise engagement strategies and common goals. • Achieve a seamless approach from brokerage to provision.
