Executive Summary • What’s the key to America’s economic growth? - Education • What’s the key to prosperity and the ability to compete in the global economy? - Education • What’s most urgent under the Obama Administration? - Education Two Clear Goals: • Raise the percentage of college graduates from 41% • Raise the achievement gap for all students

INTRODUCTION • The Key to America’s Economic Growth is Education • This will be Provided Through the Public Education System • Technology will be Integrated in the Learning Process • Schools will become Supporters of Innovation - Through collaboration - Constantly seeking new Knowledge - Constantly learning new skills - Learning together with their students

Using Key Points to Summarize the Plan • Education - Urgent priority – using Two Aggressive Goals - Cost-effective and cost-saving strategies • Innovation - Embrace Innovation with prompt implementation - Regular evaluation and continuous improvement. • Learning - All learners will be engaged and empowered • Assessment - Continuous improvements using assessment data

Using Key Points to Summarize the Plan • Teaching - Be Technologically Prepared and Make Connections with Learners • Infrastructure - Easy access to learning anytime, and any place it’s needed. • Productivity - At all levels, the education system with redesign and transform to improve learning outcomes • Research & Development - Accessibility to technology-based Education System

Thought Provoking Points • Learning: Engage and Empower - Learning must not be limited to the classroom- Create experiences that mirrors students’ lives because they are spending more than 7 hours on entertainment media outside of the classroom - The education system must be transformed to influence technology; it must be “lifelong, life wide, and available on demand.” (Bransford et al. 2006)

  10. Thought Provoking Points • Assessment: Measure What Matters - Rethinking Educational Procedures - From now on our Education System at all levels will impact the power of technology to measure what matters and use assessment data for continuous improvement. -

Thought Provoking Points • Teaching: Prepare and Connect • Goal: Professional educators will be supported individually and in teams by technology that connects them to data,content, resources, expertise, and learning experiences that can empower and inspire them to provide more effective teaching for all learners.

Thought Provoking Points • Infrastructure: Access and Enable • For learning, everyone – students and educators, will have access (when and where they need it) to a comprehensive infrastructure. • This infrastructure will require the participation from all disciplines including government as partners.
