Mission Statement • “It is the mission of Beckville ISD to support quality education by providing equitable access to all forms of technology. • We are committed to the thoughtful and planned use of current and emerging technologies. • Technology promotes creativity, provides opportunities for real world learning experiences, stimulates lifelong learning, and enhances the overall competencies necessary to meet life’s challenges” (Woodall, 2010).

  4. Technology Budget: • Teaching and Learning • $197,000 • Educator Preparation and Development • $117,000 • Leadership, Administration, and Support • $35,000 • Infrastructure for Technology • $119,000 Total: $468,000

  5. Teaching and Learning Goal: • All students and teachers will utilize multiple technology resources as an effective tool to support research-based instructional strategies, to improve student learning and to meet diverse learning needs.

  6. Educator Preparation and Development Goal: • District and campus staff performance in technology will continuously improve through the use of ongoing, sustained and intensive professional development for all instructional staff.

  7. Leadership, Administration, & Support Goal: • The administration will provide effective leadership for the district in integrating technology into the curriculum and improving effectiveness and efficiency.

  8. Infrastructure for Technology Goal: • Maintain the capability and stability of the LAN, WAN, Internet connectivity, user/computer ratio, and emerging technologies as appropriate.

  12. Beckville ISD… • Beckville is a small 1-A district that has been fortunate to have an administration that understands the importance of technology. • Because of that, along with grant writing and funding, most technology needs and standards have been met, or are soon to be implemented.

  13. National Plan… • “The role technology plays in the nation’s classrooms varies dramatically depending on the funding priorities of states, districts, and schools and individual educators’ understanding of how to leverage it in learning in meaningful ways” (U.S. Department of Education, 2010).

  14. Thought In Closing • “To prepare students to learn throughout their lives and in settings, we must change what and how we teach to match what people need to know, how they learn, and where and when they learn and change our perception of who needs to learn. We must bring 21st century technology into learning into meaningful ways to engage, motivate, and inspire learners of all ages to achieve” (USDE, 2010).
