What you need to know: • Where the Emergency Handbook is located in this department • Immediate response to emergencies • The location of emergency equipment and supplies in this department • How to recognize fire, tornado and lock down signals • Where to evacuate when necessary • Where to take shelter when necessary Canadian Valley Technology Center

  3. Emergency Handbook Location: • In the plastic envelope on the wall near the classroom door • See the cover of the handbook for alarm signals Canadian Valley Technology Center

  4. Calling for Emergency Services • 911 (May have to wait several seconds for connection) Canadian Valley Technology Center

  5. Immediate Response to Emergencies • Report emergency to the instructor • If the instructor is incapacitated, contact another staff member • Follow the instructor/staff member’s instructions Canadian Valley Technology Center

  6. Emergency Equipment & Supplies • Emergency cut-off (bump) switch location • Not applicable • First-aid kit location • Top, left cabinet behind the door in the store room • Eyewash station location • Not applicable Canadian Valley Technology Center

  7. Fire • Signal: loud, intermittent tone • Flashing white strobe in red box • Nearest fire alarm pull station • Break area • Fire extinguisher locations • East wall of class • Locations of all exits • East and south wall • All doors should be shut by last person leaving the area • Designated meeting area • Out the class, through Instructional Services, through the studio, across the street • When to return to area • When signaled to do so Canadian Valley Technology Center

  8. Tornado • Signal: intercom announcement • Designated shelter area • Storage room • Assume a kneeling position, head down, with hands covering head • Shut doors in all areas Canadian Valley Technology Center

  9. Violence / Lock Down • Signal: intercom announcement • Follow faculty/staff instructions • Shut off all cell phones/electronic devices • Students cannot leave the campus at this time • Stay in safe place until a CVTC employee comes to let you out. Canadian Valley Technology Center

  10. Bomb Threat • Signal: same as fire alarm • Evacuation procedure: same as for fire • Cease all radio communication, including: • Radios • Cell phones • Garage door openers or other transmitters Canadian Valley Technology Center
