Converting Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions • A mixed number is a special fraction that has a whole number and a fraction. • To convert a mixed number to an improper fractionfollow the recycling method… • Multiply the denominator by the whole number. • Add the numerator to the product found in the previous step. • Place your sum found in step 2 over the original denominator of your mixed number.
