  1. HIIIIIJJJJJJAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! BIOME & ecosystem project By: Daechelle Green

  2. Biome I’ve chosen for the elf owl is the desert biome. The rain fall is fewer 25 centimeter each year usually. A desert biome experiences extreme temperature, so it’s inhabitants must adapt. Semi arid The climate ranges form 32 degrees at night to 134 in the shade.it has rainy seasons in summer and winter it is one of the wettest desserts in north America with 3-16 in. of rain fall a year. • The biome the elf owl lives in is a desert biome. Mainly the desert has burning hot climates and freezing nights.

  3. Sonoran desert The ecosystem within the biome is the Sonoran Desert. The size of it is massive,100,100 square miles. It is located in the south halt of Arizona, south east California, the gulf Californian islands, the Baja California in México, as well as the northern half of Mexico. About 60 mammals,350 birds,20 amphibians, over 100 reptiles,30 native fish,1000 native bees and over 2000 native plants. All the water there is usually under grond, in plants or run off from mountain water.

  4. produce • The producer is the brittlebush shrub. • Description: Average size ,round,2-5 ft ,grey fuzzy leaves and yellow blossoms. • Habitat: Desert biome, firm dry soil, Sonoran Desert • Adaptations: The white hairs protect it from the day heat and night cold as well as trap moisture. • Food: Sugar from photosynthesis • Predators: All consumers • Protection: The stiff soil and its little hairs • Communication: No evidence of such • Young: spouts get no care • Status: Not endangered we should not be concerned • People: We can help by not picking leaves of flowers off this plant • Questions: There are no questions left about the brittlebush shrub.

  6. 1st level consumer If you thick this is what a cricket looks like think harder! • The 1st level consumer is a cricket • Description : green, black, brown,2 tails 6 legs ,exoskeleton weighs less than I oz. • Habitat: almost every continent typically grassy areas • Adaptations: crickets molt or shed 7 times each time growing large and make a chirping noise to attract a mate by rubbing there rear legs together. • Food: crickets are omnivores will eat dead insects, young or dead plants and fungi. • Predators: a crickets predators are all carnivores or larger omnivores, like humans and owls. • Protection: its protection is the hard exoskeleton the shields its insides. • Communication: crickets communicate by chirping the hum of it draw other crickets but repels humans. • Young: the look like larvae, then mini crickets and get no care what so ever! • Status/people: the status is over populated we can help it by killing a few.

  7. 2ND LEVEL CONSUMER • The next consumer is the elf owl. • Description: it has no ear tuffs a round head, gray and brown feathers, pale yellow eyes. Thin white eye brows. Height 5 in. , wing span 9 in., weight 1-1.5oz • Habitat: Sonoran desert, desert biomes, regions with water an cactuses to spare. Elf owl live in saguaro cactuses where wood peckers or moths left decaying holes. • Adaptations: elf owl can see perfectly in the dark ,yet strangely not well in low light . And the have silent flight good for hunting. • Food: they are carnivores, elf owls mainly eat invertebrates, moths, crickets, scorpions, centipede, and beetles. • Predators: these animals are eaten by coyotes, bobcats and ringtails. • Protection: since the live in cacti predator have a harder time getting to them. Plus they always have those sharp talons to claw at the predators. • Young: the look like balls of gray lint with black eyes and a tiny bill. Oddly parents take turns watching and hunting for their young. They will start to fly at 28-33 days • Status: the elf owl is not endangered but they are losing habitat. • People: we can help the elf owl by protesting the construction in the Sonoran desert.
