  4. Participation • By being part of the Community • Called as an assembly of people to be in special relationship with God • Members of the Body • Use our God given talents as parts of the body • United in love • Never alone • Friends • Build us up and encourage us • Tell the truth • Keep promises • Share our values

  5. Receive Sanctifying Grace • Sacraments • Called through your Baptism • Nourished with the Eucharist • Strengthened through Confirmation • Healed through Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick • Ministry to the people of God in the married state or ordained ministry

  6. Know God • Sacred Scriptures • God’s self revelation helps us to know Him intimately and enhances our relationship with Him • It helps us to understand His love for us through the unfolding of salvation history • “Ignorance of the Scripture is ignorance of Christ”, St. Jerome • Prayer • Keeps us connected with God • Essential to our spiritual life • God always listens

  7. Discipleship • Salt and Light (Mt. 5:13-14) • Salt of the Earth • Very strong flavor on its own but when added to other foods it brings out the enhanced flavor of that food. It does not change the flavor. • Preserver • Light of the world • Share our talents and gifts with others. Do not hide then or keep then for yourself alone. • How are you needed? • Give examples of how you can use your talents for the sake of the whole Church.

  8. Discipleship • Daily Life • “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” • Show your love to others morning, noon and night. • School associations • Control your thoughts and feelings • Regular participation in prayer and sacraments • Responsibility • Attend Mass on Sundays • Frequent the sacrament of Reconciliation • Take time to pray • Always speak the truth

  9. Discipleship • Empowered • We as the Church are guided by the Holy Spirit. • In the Creed the Holy Spirit is mentioned with the beliefs about the Church • Holy Spirit is central to the life of the Church • Energizes evangelism • Enables martyrdom • Enlivens the mind as well as the heart • We honor God by using the Holy Spirit’s gifts in the Church

  10. Discipleship • Looking toward the ultimate goal • Eternal life in the holy presence of the glory of God • What talents have I been given and how can I use them to serve God and neighbor? • Am I afraid to say yes to God’s plan for me because in society’s view it is not a “money maker” or “power seeking” occupation? • Does the career in which I am interested contribute to the common good? • Can I keep my faith in the environment in which I will be living?
